temporarily hiding points?

#1

Hi,

I’m working on a car project, the most complex project so far. Since it’s a bit complex, it would be nice if you could truly isolate selection - I mean not just the mesh I’m tweaking, but a selection of points / edges / polygons - is this possible?

Check out the screen capture to see what I mean, having the lower parts (points) visible of the fender make it a bit difficult to fix the curvature on the upper part (top view):

I spent couple of hours trying to fix this bump (should be round) - starting feel like a black smith

You can isolate components with clusters. Name your clusters and even make a selection tool to turn them on/off.

Thanks, I’m still missing something here.

I created a cluster by choosing the lower part of the fender in point mode and named it, but I still didn’t understand how I can isolate that. Checking isolate selection doesn’t seem to care about the cluster and just isolates the entire mesh.

(Got that fender fixed now with some intense tweaking, but I would sure appreciate to learn how I can use this cluster thing in the future)

Try isolating polygons instead of points. Select some polys, and tap “h” to hide them.

You can even use the polygon cluster visibility property under, Property > Polygon Cluster Visibility. Just keep in mind this hides the polygons from the render as well, so be sure to turn the render visibility “on”.

Well, that works! Thanks again!
