Tapered brush tip not working

Hi Guys
Photoshop CS4
I can’t get the tapered brush effect to work when I use the Shape Dynamics option in the Brush tip shape??? By just checking this option it should automatically taper the brush, though it doesn’t change at all.
Please anyone have a solution???

Hi Charlie5,

First off, are you using a wacom tablet or another pressure sensitive brand, and do you have the drivers installed?

If not, the only way you will get your strokes to taper is to use the fade option in shape dynamics.

I have finally sorted it out, and yes I am using a wacom cintiq 21 so the sensitive option is checked etc.
I stumbled upon fixing it, by checking off and then back on the enable open GL drawing option in preferences…weird!
Anyway it seems to sorted for now.
