Hi guys! I’m having this annoying trouble of rigging a shirt. It goes all the way down with the shoulders. Usually whenever I rig a tank top the strap goes with the clavicle but with a shirt. It doesn’t seem to apply. What do I do?

You could try weighting it to an extra joint in the hierarchy, either parented to the spine or the clavicle root. Try both and see which one you like better.

Hi Rick and thanks for the reply
I’ve decided to go with a tank top since I needed to render my animation immediately but thanks for the suggestion
will try that out for a future project.
btw where woul this extra joint be aimed at? in between the clavicle and the shoulder?
An alternative solution would be to have a blend shape that is controlled by the angle of the shoulder bone. You could drive it with a set driven key so that the sleeve eases into a nice relaxed position when the arm is down and go back to its current position when it is up. You could additionally add some wrinkles of other flourishes too while you are at it
TheOnlyAaron thanks for the reply
I’ll be playing around more with rigging after this project of mine. Rigging just ate up a lot of my time :argh: quite interesting though to learn. Would poseDeformer do for this instead of using a set driven key?
azozel hi there. I’m not quite sure I get that
lee763092 weird I wonder why it showed up like that…I think I applied poly smooth to the character when i did the screenshot :argh: it’s just 19k to be exact ehehe well this one’s 19K and my other character is 14k my bg a simple deforestation is 91k
You could use pose deformer, but it looks like it is just automating what you could do with a set driven key. I haven’t used Maya in years so I am not familiar with all of the tools / plugins however.
The main idea is to tie the rotation of the shoulder, or any other input (distance measurements) to a blend shape that would get you what you want.
