switch blendshape targets- targets deleted

#1

So I was given a model that has a bunch of blendshapes on it and I need to replace the model targets with better ones. But the targets have been deleted and there’s no way to retrieve them. Also, the blendshape node has a ton of other connections to it so i’m reluctant to destroy it and create a new one from scratch. Any known scripts?

Is there a way to :
ex. switch target weight old#4 with a new blendshape target new#4?

Or is it one of those things where I need to
a)activate each blendshape target weight
b) copy it and fix it
c)delete the blendshape node
d) recreate the blendshape node with all new targets.

You’ll want to delete or disable any other deformers before you copy the blendshapes otherwise you might introduce slight movements that will be double transformed when you add the shapes back in.

I can only guess what other connections are coming into the blendshape node. The only relevant ones I can think of would be connections to the weights inputs. So what I would do is edit your blendshapes and then create a new blendshape node and transfer those connections to the new bs node before deleting the old one.

yep, you were correct on all fronts, and so that’s what I did.
Thanks, I just needed someone to confirm I wasn’t doing something harder than necessary.
