Hello Guys,
I’m a UI Designer for about 9+ years, and a total newbie to concept art. Actually to whole “art”. For years i’ve grown interest to Concept Art and environment designs but never did anything till now. For the last few weeks though, i’ve been trying to read, watch and trying to grasp the process about how to start it.
I bought some books including “Drawing Scenery: Landscapes and Seascapes - by Jack Hamm” which is really helpful. I’m also constantly watching fundamental videos. Ctrl + Paint is a great source for beginners.
Anyways, so i’m attaching one of my “progress”. This is probably my 3rd trial EVER in my life. (i painted values really quick just to show you, i know it’s not currently right, i mostly focused on drawing) And i’ve never even draw teapot before, so i’m really a total beginner at fine arts. But luckily, from my graphic design background, i know good composition, harmony and negative space. I would really like to know everyones input. I started by hardly drawing cubes, and i wouldn’t imagine i could draw rocks but at least it resembles rocks now…
I just wanted to know your inputs, and suggestions about any direction. My question is, can i improve myself by doing this constantly? I like painting, but i learned that it all begins with drawing. But if you were me, what would you do this week to improve yourselves? Should i just draw from images? Should i just keep creating thumbnails? Should i paint like 50 rocks? I have LOTS of options to do, but i can’t figure out the most logical one…
What would you do if you were me to be a better artist? Am i in the right route for a guy that started a month ago?
Thanks very much for your inputs in advance!
Met.
