Unfortunately, A:M does not have this wonderful feature ( WHY ?? )

Besides the shader that Yves wrote for skin, you can also use an ambiance decal to fake the SSS.

If you are trying to simulate light shining through a persons skin, ( like through the ear ) and you are doing this in an animation, just move the decals’ percentage as the light source changes it position .

From what I have seen, Yves’ shader seems to create some strange artifacts when used with decals ( of any type ).
Any tips on how to remedy these artifacts folks ?

Which artifacts are you talking about? I know that there is a hue shift and this may cause problems with extreem settings but I havn’t noticed anything particularly problematic.

Whoooahhh.
Yikes !
Sorry folks . I was wrong.
Yves’ shader seems to work fine with decals.

Edit : What seems to get affected is the color of a decal. What was happening to me was that my characters eyeballs ( the white of the eye ) was shading a reddish hue. ( And resulting in a greenish hue on the eye)
To fix this, I think I just have to set the ambiance color to a white-blue shade.
( I haven’t tried this yet though, so there indeed still may be a problem. )

Yves … you are ‘the man’ !
Thanks for creating this shader.
