When modeling with subdivisions, many times I’ve come across a situation where hard edges have to end to rounded geometry.
In a planar surface it’s easy to create but when it comes to rounded surfaces, problems such as pinching arise.
A simple example is the one I’ve attached. The “GOAL.jpg” is the result I want to achieve (via turbosmooth in 3ds max). The “problem.jpg” image shows the problematic pinching.
In the “Models.zip” I’ve attached 3 .obj models. The “Base.obj” is the model after adding loops to the edges I want to make hard. The “Ball_2.obj” and “Base_3.obj” are 2 attempt I made to resolve the problem but it is still visible.
How would you address this issue?
