Studio Lighting Help Needed

Hello,

I need help on recreating this image:

I have the studio and par lights but I can’t seem to recreate that same lighting effect from that lamp. I can only use Vray and Solidrocks, I tried spot light with vray shadows and Solidrocks for auto color the scene but doesn’t seem to work. I don’t know how to set it up to recreate that ‘beam effect’ in the image I posted.

I think you linked the wrong image on what you want to recreate.

The image you linked is not “Studio Lighting” and does not have any beam effect.

You mentioned solidrock, so you’re a MAX user?

It might be different, but for Vray on Maya, I would attach cone geometries to my spot lights and have them animate with the light. Then I apply Vray environment fog to the cones so they’ll catch lights. The color would be set within the lights themselves.

The problem is I don’t have that much experience with lighting, I’m a good modeler (decent texturer, not very great) but I’m new to lighting, a step by step from someone who has experience with this would be very appreciated

It’s more of a vray shader thing.

this tutorial applied fog to a box. In your case you’ll want to apply it to your cone instead.

Alternative of course is to add fog to the whole thing instead of each light having their own cone. I prefer to keep them separate.
