Stroke Layer Style Problem

#1

I’m very new to After Effects, trying to teach myself. In my project, I have several photos in 3d layers and a light layer. The light doesn’t seem to affect the stroke layer style. When the intensity of the light is 0% and everything is black, the stroke on the photos still shows up bright white. Any idea what’s going on here?

Correct behavior. Layer styles break 3D rendering since they are always applied as the very last step to the result buffer, that is your layer after any transforms or effect operations. Nothing you can do but pre-compose.
