Striped lettering like Aquafresh toothpaste?

Hi,
I need to make lettering which is striped and looks sort of like it was squeezed out of a toothpaste tube. It needs to be flat and crisp, and I need to be able to use a pattern of stripes with the colors etc. I need. But I mean like toothpaste in that the stripes follow the curves of the letters rather than mask through them if that makes sense.

I’m not a very experienced Canvas user. A client asked for this look for a spa product label but I can’t figure out quite how to do it.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated!
