Stricken-Independent Feature

#1

Well I haven’t posted any new work for a looong time. But I’m freelancing now and here is a day for night matte I did for the independent film, Stricken.

The final shot consists of people (composited in) hanging out of a side window. It will also be raining.

Before

There will be more to come in the following weeks as production is about to wrap.

Is it just me or is the image too dark… I can’t see the details, just some small hint of lights here and there…

I agree, its also very dark on my screen as well. You may want to lighten up the dark levels so it leaves more flexibility for the compositor to play with… hopefully you can fix this and not have to redo parts… it looks a lil to dark to be repaired. Other then that cool stuff man, long time since you posted.

yeah it’s too dark and the city lights should be way brighter as well , maybe the blue/green gradient in the sky is taking out some photoreal feel, I would do it with just low saturated blueish tones, I would lit all the street level as well, with some real photo reference you will not get lost, I suggest you use it always

Hey guys thanks for the replies.

I didn’t realize it was so dark.
Easy fix.
With the lack of lights on the street view, that’s what the director called for. It’s a horror film, so he wants dark, dark dark. Guess I went too dark. And yes, its all darkened down by curves and adjustment layers, so the compositor can always dial those back down.
Thanks for the critiques and please keep them coming!
