Strange speckles in render with V-RAY HDRI

#1

Hi Guys,

I apologize if this is in the incorrect section.

I’ve been using V-ray at work now for a while, but have recently just switched my interior renders to V-Ray HDRI dome as suggested by several tutorials. How ever I seem to be getting this result:

I can’t seem to get rid of the speckles. I have increased the GI Light Cache to 3000, which seems to help, but still not looking great. Aside from this, I have adjusted every other setting I could find, but to no prevail.

The HDRI file being used is from PG skies and good quality.

Can anyone point me in the right direction? It would be much appreciated.

Cheers,

Glen

Are you placing light portals in front of the windows?

If not, you should really do so

A picture would help to determine which kind of speckles they are, also the current render settings as well as the attempted parameters.

If you have already tried the below then I don’t know:

-HDRI speckles can be some times be fixed by lowering the Max Ray Intensity (default 20)
-Quite many can be fixed by enabling sub-pixel mapping, but that will make samples lose energy, meaning the image will be darker in areas where you might want more light to reach
-Many can be fixed by raising max subdivs in the image sampler and possibly lowering clr threshold - use samplerate pass to decide on which one - if the speckles are red you will need higher max subdivs, but if the speckles are still blue you will need lower clr threshold. This might be an expensive way of fixing it though, but some times it might be the only and easiest way.

Hope this helps.
