Strange shadows on mesh. How to fix it?

#1

Hi, I am new to Maya and I have been working on a model recently and I found that my mesh was getting strange shadows across the faces. Some have and some not.
I googled around but couldn’t find a descent solution.

I tried to do Normals|Harden Edges, Set to face, Average and comfort.
Nothing helped.

The only way was to delete the face and bridge the edges together, however I was looking to find most practical solution.

Thank you

Unlock normals first , then set normal angle

Yes i have this problem too with Maya 2018, (the bug dedicated and solved version LOL)

and if you want to sculp in Zbrush style its very unconftable to work because when editing a model you cant be creating UVs every time you add new polys… it becomes weird because those shadows make it hard to edit the model in some angles because you cant see the shape well because of the weird shadows, some times these shadows are pretty big and strange.
