Strange Mapping Issue in Vray GPU Render

#1

Hello CGI-Growd,

I am in this situation that surely everyone of you knows. Now just press the render button and go to sleep. But then you notice a NO-GO detail and you cannot use this night to render. I have a phenomenon here that I haven’t had before. This is a picture of the same scene, one with the CPU renderer and the other with the GPU renderer. And the GPU renderer brings out these abutting edges. does anyone know that and can give me a tip on how to get rid of it? Thank you for reading …

Try isolating the problem, excluding different maps and parameters one by one. It might be a normal map issue, maybe input gamma is different.

Thanks for your quick answer, mapping, material settings and normals, I had first thought and checked everything, the problem only occurs when you work with textures. new smoothing and normals check, that’s all ok. What do you mean by input gamma, that sounds interesting as a solution.

So i checked, all maps have the same settings.

Try creating a new ALsurface shader from scratch and see, if the issue still occurs. If not, then check if your shader has normal map in it. When it’s loaded, it should have an input gamma. Set it manually to 1 instead of 2.2.

That’s awesome

I wouldn’t say awesome, that’s very frustrating. So far I haven’t fixed the bug either. That in combination with insane render times is really annoying and you don’t get forward. I am currently considering using a different renderer. Vray demands a lot of patience.
