Latest Update: Concept Sketch or 3D pre-visualization: Invasion

Hi everyone!
This is the first time I am entering a CG contest. I will submit probably first 3 or 4 differents sketches. My principal idea at the moment is to confront the past and the present (or “futur”).
Next one is coming soon
Oh I think the Romans will have the futuristic guy with the body armour and big gun for breakfast…
Nice sketch, good luck in your first challenge!
I like the color palette and tons on this piece,it is looking nice!Good luck and welcome!
Thanks for your comments guys, I will update this thread at the end of the week with new ideas that i am already working on! I would to make the Rome army more impressive and add real architecture in the next sketches.
hey l love your concept sketch! great composition and feel! I really like the style! good luck!
Hi guys,
As promise, here is the new sketch a bit more complex in term of composition and colorization.
The idea is basically the same, I used a photographic reference for this one (people from Toronto may recognize the street :))
I want to add way more stuff on the foreground like swat, policemen etc… I want to make it surprise etc
Next step coming soon!
lol, I’m from Toronto and I can’t recognize recognize that street, but i’ll take a guess… Is it Front St.? Anyway, I think the image is coming along really nicely and its rendered quite nicely so far. I like how must of the strong saturated colours are coming from the roman units and the sky behind them, it really draws your eyes in. great work and keep it going
Its looking great Sylvain! I like the reds you chose too…Is it Front and Bay?? near Union station ??
Time travelling romans - cool idea - are they coming through a portal from the past or our they Roman Empire revivalists? Whatever I really like it! Like the colour palette too the monochrome of the foreground conrtrasts very with the Roman red menace.
Look forward to more.
This piece has got great use of colour and perspective and is an interesting idea. my one very samll crit is that i had to squint a bit to see that it was roman soldiers coming up the street, they’re a bit too far off for my tastes…at first i thought i might be a load of santa clauses!
