WIP Concept Sketch-
In short, BIG woman… SMALL man.
Still working on the poses and expression.

#3

Still trying to decide on ideas… This one is basically showing how quickly issues are put aside when people are getting their picture taken.
Any comments or ideas (especially in the perspective department) are always welcome!

#4

just throwing around concepts just to see if I can make myself chuckle  Any ideas?

#5

Working from my original sketch of the man and woman, trying to figure out the style I want to go for and working on shading just to see if I like it. Ideas?

#6

First Draft of the Woman’s Face, still missing details. I am sooo not going to get this finished in time!! lol I need to add a lot more age to her face. Any thoughts?

your sketches are great. i really like the shark and fisherman and the alien w/ the baseball in his mouth.

since this is an illustration entry, i’d say the alien w/ the baseball tells the story the best.

i’m sure whatever you decide, it will be pretty good.

Thanks for your kind words  Personally, I like perfer the alien one myself, though I am alittle concerned on how to present it as far as perspective, because I have to include the three most important items (The Glass Hole and the Baseball and the surprised eyes) aligned in a way that the view can pick on them right away so that way the humor is carried. I’m still scratching my brain a bit on that one. Anyway, thanks alot for looking  This is my first challenge and I am terribly nervous…

hey bro! … like your concepts :stuck_out_tongue: … but i like the one with the shark even more! you can really create wonders with that one … e.g . u can change the camera angle … like the jaws scene … that way you can make the shark look really huge and with an ‘all teeth can be shown’ grin and with the guy standing in front of him … also … u can a people with that shocked! look on their faces …

i have feeling that will certainly work for you :stuck_out_tongue: … just try it out and see what goes well

good luck dude!

still working on some of the details before I start the man. I almost might switch to a different idea, just because I am not getting what I want out of this so far.

#11

What is it that you want out of it my friend?
I love the concept, and so far based on your pre rendering, it’s looking to be a nicely executed piece. It’s very funny to say the least. I hope you keep at it.

hey there nwiz25! Thanks for looking! The shark idea I think could work very well cause it does tell a good story on its own, and that angle you suggested really could bring it all together now that I visualize it. Thanks very much!

hey Huin! I am so glad you like it so far! What I am really looking for is more or less the whole “odd couple” idea… where you have the scariest, largest woman on the face of the earth yet somehow she married the smallest, fun loving man of all time. The woman’s face didnt quite capture the twistedness I was looking for, but it is very close so I may just need to some quick modifications. I cant spend time too much time on it considering I need to draft how the man is going to look and time is running out! Thanks for looking, dude! I really appreciate your imput!

The expression of the woman in the colored concept sketch in my opinion captures the feel perfectly. I think you just lost it a bit in the render. I urge you to go back to the concept. Her look is really twisted and mean in the concept, I believe because you have the facial keys accurate. The eyebrows are curved down in an angry gesture, the eyes tightened , you also have her cheeks puffy as if she is about to blow. You lost the anger in the eyes and the skewing of the mouth. Refine the eyes and mouth and the magic of the concept should come right back to life.

Tell me what you think?
Good luck:bounce:
