Latest Update: Final Image: Old Adversaries

#2

Image created in 3D Studio Max, touched up in Photoshop. I had an image in my mind of the old hunter - long past his glory days and thinking about the past…then I just retooled the status of the hunters to give it a humorous take.

Where is WIP ?

 And wireframes or clay renders would be nice to see too.

To create this piece I model and render out separate elements in Max, then composite within Photoshop - that way I can keep the scene size small and work fast - especially when the end image is going to be 2D.
I do have the original pencil sketch I can scan in and put up and take some shots of the separate models.

I dunno if you’re aware, man, but there are still 115’ish days left in the contest. Don’t call it quits yet; you still have MONTHS to make it better. If you don’t use that time, it’s not gonna give the judges a good impression. They’ll probably figure you just tossed out something you’d already made. The lack of concept art or WIPs don’t help either.

That said, you have much to tweak. I’d suggest pulling the camera back a bit, finding a more attractive angle, tweaking the color scheme (especially the ceiling, which totally doesn’t fit the rest of the room), making the zebra less fuzzy (they’re just not like that in nature), making the fire effect more realistic, tooling down the shininess of the wallpaper, and rearranging some of the props in the background so there’s a more defined image layout. Also, fix tangents like the zebra’s muzzle against the hearth, and the tip of its ear at the edge of the bookshelf, and the muzzle of the gun against the chair’s frame. Such things cause him to feel confined in the space. Other tangents, like the candlebra seemingly propped up on the chair or the teacup which I can’t honestly tell where it’s resting, just look bizarre. And you could try to make the lighting more natural.

Sorry I can’t give a more glowing critique, but I’m just trying to help you give yourself a better chance. You can do better; Lord knows you have the time.

Yes. Chrisbeaver is right. Your picture looks already very good. But there are still many places, on which you can work. And show also a few WIPs. That is very important with this Contest.
Chrisbeaver already enumerated some places. The area is already very good. Although too clean. The two Chars do not fit optically with the area. That is not harmonious yet. Are somehow different Styles.

Go on. Use the time. The idear is great. And i see you can more.
