I think the chosen stylization of the background works quite well; looks very powerfull
the front could look a bit more bull-like, with a different bumper you could get more out of this
the front-lights are the “eyes” of a car, more emotion in the would be nice
but my main crit is the movement of the car: the chassis looks very stiff while the front tire is able to change his form; a slight bend would be more organic and bull like
all in all great work and nice colors
Strange Behavior (Illustration) Entry: Manu Järvinen
You already published that picture at Assembly and got second place.
The picture is required to be unpublished work. Read the rules. Anyway great pic
I didn’t follow hte thread but after what Juha said, it appears strange that you posted all the work in one day…
Can you explain the story of your picture ?
Ahh, I was wondering why the piece was devoid of any behavior to be considered strange. Excellent 3D work, but it doesn’t fit this competition.
I like this image (and also most of the other works by maxon), but still this competition is for content that has been made for this competition only. It was shame that you didn’t won with this image at Assembly. I think your image was better than the winners.
Luckily there is still quite much time in this competition and you can do another great image from scratch. I’m sure that you will be one of the best participants if you have time to complete another image.
Thank you all
guterrez: I like your suggestion. The form of the car definitely should’ve been more curved. It’s a shame I didn’t think of it while making.
And yeah, I entered into the Assembly-competition with this. We’ll see if I have enough energy to make a new one. I doupt.
great image mate. but i have to agree with the previous comments. compared to your other sketches the final image looks way too rigid. maybe pop on a lattice deformer and curve it out a bit i donno just a suggestion.
Hm hm… actually I did try putting a hand coming out of the window, in a pose like a person riding a bull, if you know what I mean. Maybe I might have drawn it hold a hat
… but I realized the hand drew an awful lot of focus out of the behavior of the car itself. That would make the person control the car. Not the beast itself. I didn’t like that.

No, it’s really a shame you didn’t post pics of your process while you were working on it, instead of posting them all after you had called your piece finished. If you had posted stuff along the way, you could have taken advantage of peoples’ valueable feedback instead of getting it all after it’s too late to change. That is, after all, the whole reason why everyone in the Challenge gets their own forum instead of just posting a finished entry: It’s supposed to promote people giving each other helpful feedback! ('though it obviously doesn’t work if you intentionally try to circumvent that process to avoid getting input from your peers)
Anyhow, nice details in your piece.
I think the 3d model is sick, but in the final composition you can’t even tell it’s a 3d model. The final pic looks more like photoshop. Either way awesome model.
