Strange Behavior (Illustration) Entry: Drew Farr
This is a simple idea Ive been working on. Its not very unique, so be sure Ill keep brainstorming…I need something real unique and clever…
Anyway, and crits are welcome(on concept, or just how it looks)
Thanks
Drew
Funny. But i’m waiting for the entire scene. i know it’s just a research buts its poor for the moment.
I’ll look forward for the entire scene.
good luck.
Yeah, its plain at the moment. Im thinking of it being some kind of Blind Date Service or something like that, but Im still going thru concepts…
Cheers
A little idea I had today. Ive been thinking what kind of environment Id put him in, and Im sort of at a loss. Ill have to keep thinking about it, but Im just getting as many ideas out there as I can, then I’ll just take what sticks.
Again, all critiques and comments on anything are welcome.
Thanks
Im trying a total different mentality form here on out, visually, and conceptually.
As of now, the title makes no sense, but it’ll become obvious once I make some more progress…
Obviously I havent finished up paiting the environment yet, But I wantedt to get it out there, to get some crits on the visual appeal(stylewise etc), though the sketch lines somewhat ruin it
Anyway, enough talk, thanks for looking, all crits/comments wanted…
Thanks
Drew
My guess is that someone is about to walk out and find his patch of land has been blown into space, or something like that. This could make a powerful image. It is a strange scene, but I imagine there is also great potential for strange behavior too. For example, it would be normal for someone to be terrified and clinging onto the land, and very strange behavior for someone in that position to act all casual and normal! But I know you’ve only just started and could well be thinking along very different directions. Good luck with this
Thats actually a really brilliant idea…
But my idea is closer to the more casual feeling of ‘normality’.
Thanks very much for the comment, its given me a couple of ideas…
And the best of luck to you as well.
I like the “Morning Stroll” concept… A very interesting concept!
Bahh… Nevermind about the sketch lines… It gives the look a sense of depth! ![]()
Cant wait to see more on this buddy… Goodluck! :bounce:
Alright, Ive obviously made a fair bit of progress, just have the last bit of rock to work on, then I can move onto the sky or character design.
All crits and comments wanted.
Thanks!
Thanks Insomnian, Definately good to hear
And yeah, Im keeping the sketch lines until Im finished, it gives a better impression of my progress to the viewer.
Ok, Ive finished the main Environment. I may do some detailing, depending on inspiration.
I think I’ll work on the character’s next…
All critiques/comments wanted.
Peace
Ive finished the first character(though I may add a leg stepping out as well), an old hermit who lives in this hill.
He is my first attempt at character creation with photoshop(Im actually a 3D guy, this is my first real ambitious 2D painting project), but I think he turned out alright.
Im open to all critiques on his account.
And just general comments(as usual)
Thanks
Edit: Whoops, Ive been entering most of these as conceptual sketches…whoops, they’re actually Line Art I guess. 'scuse that, this is my first contest…
Alright, Heres the scene in it’s current state, with the bird.
Im thinking of changing the old mans pose and position a bit though,a nd maybe making the bird a bit small.
All Critiques and Comments wanted.
Thanks
Drew
Alright, Ive made some minor changes to the bird(proportions), painted up another sholder, and a leg for the old man.
While I was painting the thigh up, I decided to give him a wooden shin, which led to the idea of him being a retired sailor, hence the rope on the left side of the image(boat to come).
So that’ll add a good level of depth to the image.
All crits and comments wanted.
Peace
Drew
@bandro: Thanks
Here is a close-up of the Man and the Bird, since the whole image has to be too small(it gets way to compressed for the forums) to view them properly.
Peace
The sky is about finished. I need to do a bit of detailing and smoothing out of the cloud, but Im pretty happy with it.
Next comes the boat…
Thanks for looking
