Here goes…I’m new to all this. Never actually participated in this kind of a competition. Still, I’d like to give it a try. I’ve seen allot of great artwork here, and I see this as a chance to learn rather than as a chance to win something. So, here is my concept - sketch ( I know it looks more like line art, after all I did in Illustrator, but I had no sketch for this - just did it as it came ).

I think the concept is pretty much self-explanatory.Hope at least one person finds it funny

Started coloring a bit…already got the feel of the scene, so I’ll just take it bit by bit and add all the color and details I deem necessary.

Working on the “axe murderer” for now…

Somewhere, in an improbable future, a young innocent girl smiles at the “viewer” who just stumbled into her “lair”. The girl seems to be hiding something…Perhaps too much TV “consumption” inspired her to choose this interesting hobby. Perhaps her innocence is nothing more than an act she so easily picked up from watching and analyzing her “victims”. Perhaps the chemicals in her shirt are responsible for her cute but bloody rampage. Who knows?

What I know for a fact is that I’ve always wanted to see some of my favorite cartoon heroes bite the dust. If it had to be related to strange behavior than it had to come from a strange thought.

hey codin,
congrats on submitting your final image:) …(wish i could say so for myself …lol)…i love your idea:thumbsup:…it’s indeed STRANGE for a child to “string-up” the usually favourite toon characters of that age group!..(i mean when i was 8 i followed loony toons like a religion! lol!)…anyways i do have some suggestions to make (sorry, it’s only now that i’ve discovered your entry ! ); i believe if you use a full colour palatte it will make the pic more eye-catching, as with the monochromatic theme, i had to search out the various elements that defined your pic. (you can probably give a bit of pallor to the dead cartoons and contradict it with the rosiness of the girl’s cheeks and her cutey room decor)…you can throw in some more tools of her carnage and contradict it with cute girlie elements on the room’s floor, since this illustration’s strange-ness also plays off the fact of that cute hearts n’ flowery girls don’t involve in bloody, creepy hobbies:twisted: ! lol…(love it !)!..so i’ll say, that to this would strengthen your already Brilliant idea!:scream:

Thx allot for the advice, the constructive crit. . I had a version of the fully colored scene, but it was simply too much, it was perhaps too eye-catchy, too chaotic, and I wanted to transmit the idea as clearly as possible. That’s why I went with mono. I’m very glad that you like the idea. About adding more “tools” - thing is I have this saying - if you can remove an element from the illustration and it doesn’t dim it’s power of suggestion, or it’s meaning toward the viewer, than that element had no reason to be there in the first place. Less means, more meaning. I’ve tried different color combinations, but this final one was the closest to what simply felt right.

Thx again for sharing your opinion.
