Still image rendering with 2 pc on Maya

#1

Hey guys;

I’ve decided to use a network with 2 Intel i5 6600 as a renderfarm. I know that third party programs like Backburner distribute frames along with computers on network but really haven’t any idea how this structure would act about still image rendering, is there any program to do that?
The render engines I mostly use are Arnold and Renderman.

Thank you in advance!

deadline is able to split images… and its free for up to 3 lics i think…

and vray is able to use multiple machines for single frame rendering…

Thank you for your reply!
Is Deadline support preview render for single frame or it must be bach rendering?

Ok I think Jigsaw rendering in Deadline is the answer!

You can use the commandline renderer and slice the image up anyway you want with as many slices as you want using the -reg flag. Then recombine the slices in post. You don’t even need a render manager at all, though most have always supported user commands.

     -reg <int int int int>

Set sub- region pixel boundary of the final image (left, right, bottom, top)

the trick though is to start and end on the same pixel number so do this for two frames:

     -reg 0 960 0 1080
     -reg 960 1920 0 1080

     not:
     -reg 0 960 0 1080
     -reg 961 1920 0 1080

Thanks for reply,
So, how does this suppose to realize the network to use the other 4 cores let say with arnold renderer?

Command-line rendering isn’t network aware - it just launches render jobs. So you’d need to manually set up jobs on each machine where each machine rendered a slice of the image. You’re probably better off setting up Deadline with its free licenses. I just wanted to throw the option out there

OK, thank you anyway. I appreciate that!
