I modeled the AR-15 reciever in Pro/ENGENEER 2000i my senior year in high school (last year). The bullets and rendering were done in Max 5 yesterday. In total the AR prolly took 3 days or so to make (10-12 hrs) and the bullets around 2 minutes or so. Post any comments but keep then positive.

I think your first render is way too dark!
The light source seems to be way in the back, placing the whole object in shadows. Its hard to see the details.
Err btw, what is it?
Something that has to do with guns?
Model looks clean though.
But I’d put some more time in tweaking the lighing of this scene.
Yah you definitely need a seconday light source behind the camera. It doesn’t need to be very bright, just enough to illuminate the gun a little more.
