Steampunk Myths and Legends Entry: vincent guibert

Its a great piece with a very nice composition and color pallete, the red and green are looking awesome!

If I can give a few sugestions, that will be to add more steam from the creature and less fog,and a little bit more texture liked you mention before. Best of luck for you on the final judgement!

Wow! What a great image!
I loved the style!!!

Very good use of colors

Congratulations!:applause:

This is a really fun piece. I think the fog is good, though I’d like to see it continue on the left- seems to terminate a bit abruptly. Maybe make it a little thinner in the center. I agree that more steam coming from the monster would be cool. The only other thing is the teeth- for me they seem too simple. I’d like to see more modeling there; it looks very cartoon/2D and my eye is drawn to it with the amount of black. I think more detail there would work, without changing the mood of the piece much.

Your picture is my favorite!Good luck!

Roaaaaaaaaaaaar!
He reminds me of Godzilla for some reason.

The smoke was done in XSI? Was the robot rendered in it?

#66

This image reminds me of those pulpy b grade monster movies from the 50s and 60s! Perhaps adding some dust and scratches, like from an aged strip of film would add to it?

Really cool image, one of my favourites!

hey Vincent

this is looking cool so far man

crits from me: push your lines more, the buildings on the left of your piece look good, but on the right they point AWAY from where u should be looking. Small tweaks I can suggest :

Hi I’m currently doing some minor changes on toshop. Expect to finish it this evening.

DougFerreira : I’m lowering the fog. About steam, I’ll try but with too much I find it break the composition. Thanks for comment.

fabmoraes, MaxLarin : thanks

joolz : these are good advices, I will make some changes (it was planned for the fog at the left)

Womball : the robot is made in xsi. The smoke is 2d

themightym : yes I was looking for an old film style. If it would have been authorized I would have add a title.

Martin : yes I could have bend it more for a better composition. That’s a bit too late for now (don’t have so much time). I will try the clouds, I have already tried something similar that didn’t work but it was not on a so advanced picture.

You could still bend the buildings with liquify in Photoshop. I’m currently trying out the new version of XSI as well. I will buy it someday.

Software: Digital Fusion,Photoshop,XSI

Dr Jekyll was making troubling experiences to find more about the soul . the result was the birth of Mr Hide, a terrible, giant and destructive robot. How can he stop this as Mr Hide And Dr Jekyll are the same person ?

This picture make reference with the monster movies of the 50s or 60s. I build it like a poster even I don’t put any title (I don’t think it was allowed, in this case I would have make it higher). As it is a poster, not a moment of action, you can see the Hide and Jekyll( in little) in the same picture.

I hope you’ll like it.

Good luck to all with your own entry.

Vincent
