Latest Update: Work In Progress: Argo Aeronef progress

#2

This is just a quick sketch of Jason’s Argo as a steam driven “Aeronef” with large rotors mounted on “masts”.

#3

Well I finally sat down and got into modeling the ship. I will probably be making many changes and revisions to the original design, but I think this Aeronef design for my version of the Argo is starting to “gell”.

#4

nice modelling, I don’t know this legend… but I’ll find it.
keep working it!

#5

Hey Mario,

Really cool model, like a lot the steampunk design on it  great!! Looking forward for more updates! Cheers mate!

#6

looks good, it reminds me of the hiighwind or highwing (i forget the name) from final fantasy VII.

#7

Thanks, it is a Steampunk version of the Argo, the ship from the Jason and the Argonauts Greek legend.

#8

Thanks, glad you like it. I will post a new update soon.

#9

great idea and great modeling. Can’t wait to see which part of Jason’s adventure you’ll be integrating this into. I’ll be following this thread.

#10

I’m a big fan of flying contraptions.

Looks great so far. Best of luck!

#11

Here’s the latest revision of the Argo Aeronef model. It retains the extended ramming bow seen in both the ancient greek warships and Victorian Age ram battleships, as well as the lucky “eye” detail used by the greeks. Working on textures next.

#12

There aren’t many options, but I am considering the Sympleglades crossing, Steampunk style. Imagine two large mechanical clashing walls that go up so high that an airship cannot fly over them. The only alternative is to fly between them.

#13

Thanks, I plan to start texturing this weekend. I got hooked on Aeronefs when I saw the film “Master of the World” as a child. The new Steampunk genre doesn’t cease to amaze me.

#14

good idea! I see here not only Argo but also «Robur the Conqueror» Jules Verne! good luck!

#15

Well I finally spent some time working on the materials for this ship. My intention is to make it look used, but not old or in disrepair. Next I will get started on the “Clashing Rocks” themselves, not sure how I am going to adapt them to my story just yet.
