Nice work so far! It’s easily recognizable as Grievous, and the gears are a nice touch. If you really wanted to make him look more steampunk, you might consider going with brass intstead of white plastic.

However, I hate to disappoint you but Star Wars is not a Myth. It’s “mythological in nature” but not an “honest-to-goodness myth.” Star Wars is both too recent and too widely franchised to be an ideal subject for this contest. The idea here is more to take something older, something not already part of popular culture, and really make it your own. Your entry will always be George Lucas’ idea first and your second… Plus, if you really want to do Steampunk Star Wars, there are already contests for that exact topic in the MiniChallenges section of CGTalk. Sorry to be a downer, but good luck to you no matter what you choose to do! :slight_smile:

well, glad you like it and the textures are still temporary, it will get some decorations and stuff…
about it not being a ‘myth’, you got a point, but im a bit too far to stop now, so ill just keep going…
by the way, wasnt steampunk all about making new technology work on steam?

Yes, Steampunk is about reworking any technology to function in a steam-powered society. But steampunk is only half of the challenge theme. The full title is ‘Steampunk Myths and Legends,’ and we judges will be looking for entries which fit both halves of the contest theme. It’s not so far into the contest that you couldn’t swith - there are 44 days left - that’s a lot, really! (but it’s entirely up to you.)

As for the Star Wars Steampunk Challenge going on elsewhere on CGTalk, I don’t think there were any prizes or anything, so there’s likely no such thing as too late to join… but you’ll have to find the thread and see for yourself.

Again, good luck whichever path you choose to take!
