Steampunk Myths and Legends Entry: heri irawan

#21

Wow, great image! Would be cool to see the steampunk exaggerated a bit more… like in his arms and helmet, (to me looks kinda future aztec or something) but also I’m liking the wolves… you gots talent!

#22

thanks for your critic, you are right.
his arm look a bit to small compare to the right arm(i think it also because the wings is not right from the perspective).on my first sketch the arm look better.

#23

i am agree with your opinion, i still have to pimp up my character more in to steampunk.
thanks a lot.

#24

yes i have to be careful with that, but i hope after i give the right lighting the picture will be more dynamic then the first skecth.

#25

Very dynamic layout, and nice detailing so far! It feels a little awkward with the finger-blade resting against the edge fo the frame… have you considered changing the canvas size, to either crop more of the finger or to give it a little more space around it? Good luck!

#26

hi everyone
here is my wolves sketch,
like always cc are very welcome.

#27

Absolutely fantastic concept ! both characters are really mean and inspiring  I will sure follow this thread, looking forward for your 3d work

#28

thanks for your compliment, but this will never build in 3D.

#29

I just upgrade my stymphalian birds more into steampunk…and mood color

#30

Very good and dynamic. Like also the lighting!

#31

I really love the wolf design and pose.
I like your sketched version of the character in front more than your last one. I thought about it why and I think it’s the teeth. The closed ‘mouth’ version looked more mystical to me. Now it looks very aggressive and in combination with the wolf maybe a little too much.
Just my two cents!

Nonetheless great work!

Best wishes,

Chris

Hola Heri! Didn’t notice you’ve joined the challenge! Looking very promising - the only thats bothering me right now is the composition. The figures seem to fit exactly in the frame. Imho they need more space, so you can really make a dynamic piece of work. Good luck and have fun!

#33

Excellent work u have there.Really dynamic and with a lot of motion.
Its ready to jump out of my screen.:scream:
Maybe the characters face could use some touchups, looks a bit flat
Cant wait to see more updates from u
Best of luck

yup…it is very impressive…and it has that dynamic motion…but i think it looks more hi-tech and not steampunk…then again i may be wrong…:bounce:

Hi Heri,

It’s looking very good! My Steampunk entry has Stymphalian birds too, but we’re approaching them in very different ways - come and have a look

If you’d like some crits, I’d say your latest is getting a little too mono-saturated and contrasty. It’s easy to dodge and burn more, but pretty hard to step back and recover the subtle tonality that you lose in the process. I always try to keep these ‘image popping’ techniques until the final step, though I know it’s hard to resist sometimes!

Also, you could make the metal colours pop by introducing some cool colours in the shadow areas. Currently the metal shares a pallette with the skin and the canyon wall behind it.

Hope you don’t mind some advice, it’s only meant to be constructive feedback

#37

Very nice progress :applause:

#38

Impressive work!
I think colors and contrast are good: they match with the theme; you used high contrast, but to me it looks more incisive.
As for the main character, I’m with ChrisNoeth: I liked more the closed-beak version. But It’s a great drawing anyway!

So many thanks to all of you who passed by and stoped to write a feedback or crictic which is really help me a lot,
