I like the concept and the details in the arm look great with the plants and fungus. I think a little rust would be nice to help give it that weathered look. Keep up the great work.

#24

Thank ye Cory. You’re right about adding more rust, I’ll see what I can do about it.

#25

Great choice, great pic & lightning and great start!!!
Lot of greats I know…

#27

Wow man your work is awesome. Great idea and skill.
Nothing to crit.
Keep up the good work.

#28

Nice colors and mood! Great level of detail. This will look amazing, maybe more mechanical parts on this…

#29

Cracadoo : What can I say? Thanks.

Dodgeas3d : Yup, there’ll be a few more mechanical parts when it’s done. Some springs, bolts and perhaps a pipe or two. We’ll see  Btw, thanks.

#30

Wow that’s a really atmospheric piece. And a challenging theme. Ace work!

#31

Thanks man

Yup, another close up.

Thought I’d talk a bit about the subject. I’ll sum up the story, for you who don’t know the tale of Narcissus.

Anyways, he’s a particularily beautiful and vain guy with many female pursuers whom he rejects. One day out hunting he sits down by a stream. When he sees his own reflection he falls in love with it. He doesn’t touch the water because he doesn’t want to ruin the reflection and dies from thirst. The narcissus flower grows in his place of death.

Now in my version Narcissus is a automaton with a golden head(which will be polished more) which’ve crumbled by a pond. Firelfies and the moon illuminates him. So he’s stopped working and is in a state of disintregation. The Narcissus flower will grow around him.

I want this to have an enchanting atmosphere, cozy miyasaki, princess mononoke feel. I love old forests, the whole John Bauer thing is very soothing and appealing, me thinks.

Hope I cleared it up a bit for you who wondered about it.

Added more rust, some tiny gears which are hardly visible beneath the big one in his shoulder and started with the torso. What’s left of it anyways.

Having loads of fun. Time for bed now, 5 o’clock in the morning here -_-

#34

I really like this perspective. Great painting too. The face reminds me of art deco style.

#35

Great work. Lightining is awesome. It is a simple composition, but there is much to see with the details. And I like the magic mood in it.

#36

Womball, Anatomista Thanks both of ye

#37

whoaw. that’s looking very nice!/ i missed thread before. His face expression is great

#38

#39

Added more details and vegetation. Pretty finished with the torso and I also made the head more golden cause, well he’s Narcissus afterall.
