Steampunk Myths and Legends Entry: Helen Rathbone
We are intending to experiment with mixing live action footage with 2D drawn locations and 3D animations. The character will be filmed with a backdrop and placed onto the locations drawn by our 2D artist, this way we can explore several mediums and we aren’t limited by using locations, it can be wherever we want ^^
Myth:
We are touching upon several myths in our script, however the main focus is that of the banshee…
our research has shown us they are known for their mournful cries, they are bad omens, some are harmless, however some lure people in with a silver comb in order to kill them. It is the evil banshee that we are looking at.
Team:
Helen Rathbone and Faye Kenworthy are doing directing, lighting, editing and costume design etc
Jenny Rathbone is doing 2D and 3D art.
We are aiming to make a 3 minute short film, however we think it may last a bit longer and if thats the case we will make a trailer of it as our entry.
Really nice idea!
She absolutely fits to your concept!
I am excited to see some more of your stuff.
Best to you,
Cmdr. Pi
A screenshot from our current opening scene, the smoke is yet to be animated and the character will be made darker to blend into the 2D environment better.

it kept coming up with errors so posted it a few too many times… thank you for the comments ^^
Welcome to our studio… in other words, half of a student bedroom that has cleverly been converted into a green screen studio through the use of 3 double bedsheets ironed to perfection (3 hours worth of ironing in fact!!)
We had to place the camera on the bed in order to get the character in the whole frame - at least it was cosy.
Ok so its not very professional looking, but we are good at improvising!
Very interesting project… very original… I wish you the best of luck with the little time remaining… keep going :wip:
thank you! ^^ the editing is taking much longer than we anticipated, been doing it solidly for several weeks, its going to be a push! its been really fun though
Our timeline is getting pretty busy! We are working on matching the lighting and colours on the actress with the background, we are also planning on going back through and increasing the contrast on the images, we really want to bring out the orange hues in the film
