Holy crap!!! I didn’t know the image "dead"line is so near!! I thought its the same as the video dateline… Damn I’ve got to work very very extremely fast this timeee.
Anyway, my concept for this challenge is Hercules versus Hydra, near the colloseum, I want the great battle that happened between them, if I remember correctly, in the disney animation, it’s the first battle that Hercules has that prove him to be a hero among his people. So hopefully, I am able to capture that awesome moment in my image, now back to work…
Due to the extremely little time left(yeah, my fault…) I decided to go all digital to speed up the process. I created a Hercules template and plot his armor design on another layer. Oh yeah, I decided to go with a longer hair for him, so that I can depict the wind blowing on him(cool…)
Hand armor on his left hand, no particular reason, just that I felt it was easier to draw it that way rather that on the right. The hand armor is meant to boost his power and channel it to his sword, which will be designed later. The other arm I left it empty so that I can expose his flesh, and showcase his bulging muscles.
Now the basic arm design is complete, I can move on to the waist and leg. The arm felt a bit too simplistic though, maybe I’ll add extra details along the way or amend it on the final image, for now gotta move on to other things. Fast, fast fast! T_T
In the end I changed the knee design, going with simples shapes rather than the “overturned” flower shape. But Im still not so sure about it too… I might even go back to the flower design as it has a stronger silhouette, but in the meantime I’ll settle with this one, if there’s any changes it will be done straight on the final piece. Now gotta move on to Sword & Hydra…
Design for Hydra head, not sure about the directions of the horn on its head though… feels abit weird, maybe I’ll turn it to the opposite direction and see what happens…
I’ve turned the horn, butI tried a different type or armor plate underneath its body, it looks a bit inappropriate, I think I might just prefer stick to the old one, because I want it to feel more organic, thus more curves is needed
Here’s the one with the curved armor plates, let me know what you think ya?
Ornament details, nuts, bolts and wires will be added on the final image, its just too time consuming to put in the same amount of rendering effort on concept stage…
I try to make hercules pose as cool as possible without making it too forced or unnatural. Let me know what you guys think k? Though I prefer the third one, which is coming later…
Yup, this is the one I prefer, I thought seems more natural without losing the cool factor, and it allows me to show case the design of his pants. Oh yah, those black things are the Hydras and he is using a chain to swing and attack one of them, behind them is the Colosseum, which of course, will be in steampunk style, and if I have the time, I wanna show Zeus merging with the clouds behind…
Color guide for Hercules… not complete though, will change and adjust accordingly in the final image…
Decided to change the motion/gesture of the other arm, he looks more like swinging this time, after this I might be able to throw some colors already, Yay!
Now Im stuck, Im thinking of creating a suitable bg for my image, while I like the color feel of this, it feels abit “God of War” and there seems to be too many things going on in the bg, but I definitely wanna show some colosseum though…
While I like the idea of this one(simple n straightforward) the color scheme is still not right, it still needs a lot of tweaking, so what do you think guys? Helpp…
