OK so its finally coming together. I still have some texturing details I want to put in. Everything was unwrapped so just shader application makes life easier to tweak later. I also rigged him up, just in case I didn’t dig his pose or I wanted to animated him later. Good times!

The story will be posted soon!!

Just a few more tweaks and I should be happy. Moon or no moon? Let me know, its just something I threw in at the end.

In the iliad, one of two ancient greek poems traditionally attributed to homer is the earliest surviving literary reference of the chimera. It is written that the chimera is “a thing of immortal make, not human, lion-fronted and snake behind, a goat in the middle, and snorting out the breath of the terrible flame of bright fire”. The Chimera is generally considered to have been female despite the mane adorning its lion’s head, the inclusion of a close mane often was depicted on lionesses, but the ears always were visible (this does not occur with depictions of male lions). Sighting the Chimera was an omen of storms, shipwrecks, and natural disasters (particularly volcanoes).
The Chimera finally was defeated by Bellerophon, with the help of Pegasus, at the command of King Iobates of Lycia. Since Pegasus could fly, Bellerophon shot the Chimera from the air, safe from her heads and breath. It is written that Bellerophon finished her off by equipping his spear with a lump of lead that melted when exposed to the Chimera’s fiery breath and consequently killed her.
This is my steampunked vision of the chimeras final moment.
