fixed the composition.

And some more work on the hair…

I’m not so used on curly hair, and I’m pretty stuck here.
Deadline is near…:bounce:

Thank you for visiting commenting critiques

Update…
working on the hair.
Suggestion and feedback welcomed please

#43

Question: better darker or light as the last update?
I’m getting confused!! LOL:wip:

#44

Nothing much to crit about hairs… just maybe need a bit more depth to give a volume feeling…
not easy to give good councils at this point, maybe while playing with hair/brush thickness.

Personaly, I prefer the last lighted version

…and I wish you an happy new year :wavey:

#45

**I’m agree with Lemog… about volume feeling…

** the light version is nice…

#46

Thank you for the feedback guys! ^^
Thinking and thinking about it…
LOL the last steps of a painting are awful! You start thinking about everything which is wroooong! ^
^

Hi Alice! Your idea and illustration are becoming very nice! If I can give a sugestion that will be to give more volume to the monocles, they look a bit thin, maybe just adding more details and a thicker leather strap would work! Keep up the good work and best of luck for you!

I’m now working on the little details…and on the hair… deadline is near and the painting need to be finished
:stuck_out_tongue:

Ok people…this has been an AMAZING experience!
I have loved so much to put myself on this theme, to see other people’s ideas, to have comments and feedbacks…it has been a funny, interesting and illuminating experience.

We are at the end of this journey…
This is gonna be my final submission:

There are a lot of things that I will need to improve, like the rendering of the skin and volumes, or the composition.
So far, this piece is a new direction in my art. I can see in it a lot of improvement respect to my previous paintings, and this makes me happy.
I’m satisfied of the textures, of the first try at composition, and of her expression.

Of sure I will learn more during my walk in art, but for now this is the best I can do

I want to tank you all the cute and wonderful people who made this experience (My first challenge!!) so amazing and worth to be lived
Special thanks to Lemog and Glenn for their constant feedback!

Best of luck to you all

You have good reasons to be proud of your creation…
I especially like the good feeling… with a particulary style… your style !
and that works ! :applause:

but for me, it’s not the best you can do… it’s never true…

Even if these challenges are always good to progress… work much during long time make lost a little our objectivity considering our creations…
but it’s a true good experience and that improve our skills… it’s the most important…

Well… in any case… you have done a good piece… congrats Alice and all my best wishes for the continuation

#51

eheheh since the deadline is coming and considering my actual skills, this is the best I can do giggles
But, for sure I’m studying and for the next painting I will be better!

#52

Sure… and we have the life to progress… it’s a great goal

#53

hi Alice,
I would not say it any better than Lemog/Laurent did -
yes, you can be proud - you did another great step towards your new “art-journey”,
good for you!
wishing you good luck
with whatever you´ll try to achieve in your art in the future!
a.

Alenah  so glad to see you here, I so admire your art

Yeees, I’m happy of this wonderful journey, I have learned and it was funny!
Best luck to you too, you rock!

HEY Alice…:wavey:  Now that the time of presure/presure of time is turned off,…it’s a good time to just have alot of fun with the great piece that you’ve created.
To throw aside expectations, and to dare to mess it up, just to see if you can take advantage of error, and to capitalize on it/and also benifit from it.
Sometimes just trowing caution to the wind on an adventure, can lead to great discoveries that would otherwise be missed…
The further you push, the more you will discover, in any work that you create.and what is learned by pushing and error today, can be applied tomarrow
Wishing you the best on this learning journy thay you and we are all involved in, and hopeing that it is always an adventure which leads to inspiration…:bounce:
TAKE CARE
Glenn

always on the way to learn and happy of it!

this experience helped me to understand better my problems…so I will focus on them!

First, I need a good understanding of light and planes, and a good understanding of the way to render them. SO I will focus on this for a while, with pencil studies and maybe some digital black/white studies.
Then, I will need to learn colours

And maybe the first challenge will see a more skilled Alice!

Software: Photoshop

In Greek mythology, Cassandra was the daughter of King Priam and Queen Hecuba of Troy. Her beauty caused Apollo to grant her the gift of prophecy. However, when she did not return his love, Apollo placed a curse on her so that no one would ever believe her predictions.

The idea of the illustration is to give the mood of sufference and desperation due to her gift/curse. The monocle symbolizes her ability to see the future, while the gears in the background are the sign of the time passing.

I was inspired by the work of G.Klimt for the usage of metallic textures and for the frame.
