Staying in the component selection mode

Pls help!
How to stay in the component mode of a selected object - and not to select the 2nd object when drag-select?
Some people say it’s the “ignore selection priority” checkbox in Preferences but ticking/unticking it does not change anything

Or Press f9-f11.

It’s not about the way I enter this component mode. It’s about keeping another objects unselected when I marquee-select components.

Btw, for history, this setting is still broken and gets randomly reset. The official recommendation from Autodesk would be to remove all my scripts, which is not acceptable for me.

If you press f9, components get the priority during selection.
