Im planning on upgrading from my old hdd setup to a 128ssd + 1tb hdd.
the HDD will be for data and the ssd for system + programs.
Do you think 128gb will be enough for a windows 7 x64 pro with maya + zbrush +3d max + adobe stuff + other usefull programs? or should I go 256gb all the way?
Im asking cause is almost a $100 difference between the two!

I have all my DCC apps, win7, Linux, some Data, and a small online data partition, not to mention the disk footprint of two virtual machines, on a a130GB (112 formatted I think), and there’s still space left after that.
It’s only games and project data/contents that hog space, win7 is a hungry beast, but not so hungry that it will wipe it off so easily, and most apps with their example projects removed are less than a GB.
If you want to save some money, 128 will be perfectly fine. Double that is an option if you want a small online storage for heavy data, say to online and prep comp or short edits, but not necessary if a fast boot and instant application launch are all you care about.
keep in mind that with SSD you would like to have half od the disk free for operations.

That’s only true for some fairly old controllers, when realiability issues were firmware patched with wear levelling that was too aggressive.
Any Intel from the last couple years will simply not have the issue at all, and only hybernation files might make it necessary to leave a large slice free (again, it was a very large slice on the old 30GB, not so impactful on a 130 or 260GB).
You can forget about it enitrely for the most recent on board controllers and vendors that show faith in their own stuff by providing a decent warranty.
