you may want to take a look at this document http://www.box.net/shared/acry4hdjqf which is specific to curves/splines. Here’s the main site address which is very helpful http://foreverblender.blogspot.com/
Here are another couple sites that I found invaluable

hope this helps!
I have one question, because i don’t want for this to open new thread. Its on selection.
When i try to select the loop or the ring selection on a model with Alt + L-click (because i change the user interface for selection from right to left), nothing happens.I then have to do manually by going to ctrl + e (for edges) and go to edge ring or loop.
How can i set my shortcut to do the ring and loop function?
I use Blender 2.5 alpha 2 build 29778
I think it’s likely that even if you’ve changed your mouse selection to the left click instead of right click your key mapping for edge select will still be alt + right click, you shouldn’t need to be in edge mode.
Quick tip: use Ctrl + tab to bring up the Mesh select mode (vertex, edge, or face) then select with your mouse.
If you’d like to change the key mapping for the edge loop or ring loop you can do this in the USER PREFERENCES (the same place you changed your mouse click assignment). Go to the INPUT tab / 3D VIEW / MESH / where you’ll find LOOP SELECT. You can then just click on the current key assignment and press a new key.
Make sure when you close the USER PREFERENCES panel you save your defaults using Ctrl + U.
Hope this was clear,
L
Yes that’s it.
use Ctrl + Alt - left click to select rings
use Shift + Alt - left click to select loops
thanks
