Spinosaurus walk cycle

#1

Hey,

I’ve been working on a walk cycle for a Spinosaurus & so far I’m really happy with it however i’d like some opinions on what I could improve. I know it’s not ultra real or anything but your opinions are welcome.

Also, i’m having trouble with the weighting around the thighs, I’m using 3DS Max 2011 and the skin modifier, any tips to correct this would be awesome as I seem to just go round in circles with the weighting & never get it perfect.

Thanks

Thanks, any suggestions to improve it?

Here’s another angle of the leg distortion:

Very nice work so far! I already commented on your YT-video. Maybe take another look at the tail. In my opinion, it moves a bit too ‘elastic’. I think a tail of a dinosaur would be stiffer because of the muscles.

But it’s possible other people have another opinion about that. Keep up the good work!

Feet needs more weight. Right now the feet looks like it’s landing on too softly. You want to bring the keyframes the feet landing more closer to the keyframes when the feet lifts up.

The animation graph line will look like it’s a gradual slope, then it drops down quickly. That’ll give you the weight.

Secondly, give the animal a slight vibration as secondary motion. Take a look at different heavy animation walk cycle. Ignore those with the camera shakes, I find that cheating and lazy IMHO. :stuck_out_tongue:

Those little tweaks should help a bit.
