Spider animation - Help!

#1

Hi,

I’m trying to do a spider animation but have run out of ideas.

It does need to have contrast, weight, follow through, and anticipation but since this is my first animation ever, I have some problem getting everything correct.

Any help would be appreciated between frame 170 - 270.

This is the project: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=B3FB6VNW

Thanks

I think your problem is exactly what you posted, you don’t have any contrast, weight, follow through, and anticipation. The principles of animation are your back bone for any animation you do and should be used for everything animation. Perhaps instead of animating something as technical as a spider for your first animation why not start off with the bouncing ball. Not to down play your animation skills but even veteran animators fall back on the bouncing ball animation. It’s a great way to work out the principles and make sure your applying them correctly.

Exactly what Chris said, actually.

I smelled trouble when I saw the words “spider animation” and “first animation ever” together.

A biped walk cycle is already considered tough enough for beginner animators, and you’re diving into something with many more legs than that.

Definitely start with a bouncing ball, and then work your way up to a biped walk cycle. When you get those two basic exercises down, then come back to your spider, ya?

It’s nothing to feel bad about… EVERYONE starts with the ball bounce.
