Speed up animated snapshot workflow

#1

Hi

I’m trying to deal with lots of quite complex animated snapshot sequences in maya/vray. Long motion trails with quite high polycounts. One method is to use vray proxies, which speed up workflow, but take ages to export.

I just wondered if anyone new of a simple way of reducing the density of the animated snapshot node. I’ve tried creating geo caches but they also take quite a while to export.

Essentially i’m talking about cubes and cylinders being multiplied hundreds of times as they are parented to a moving object. So essentially this shouldn’t be too hard- eg if it was a paint fx brush with a similar polycount it would be quite workable. Is there a way of doing this that doesn’t grind my machine down to almost a halt? Ie converting them to instances or something?

thanks in advance
