Speed paints

50 min, done as a pre-study for a underwater fantasy mermaid painting.
Also done for a upcoming speedpaintin tutorial for newbies

(reference used on the side)

2 hrs to come out the final…normal brush…painter7…

#864

60 min, study. Airplane reference used on the side.
Trying to learn depth, feeling of scale… Next up is
a big hangar study.

#865

2.5 hours, no ref. Really struggled (and failed) with the composition on this one. I might try the same subject again, from a better angle.

#866

Argh, study and practise on space, air and depth…
My first try so i guess if i do like 100 more perhaps it
don’t look like crap…

60 min

40 min

balistic: Regardless of the composition issues, the atmosphere and mood is really breathtaking. You nailed that withou reference, and I gotta say, I’m impressed.

bM_: I really dig those. Lovely mood and colors. As a casual observer and a terrible speed painter, I can only say this: The lighting is off. In the second pic, the lighting from those panels/skylights is so bright, that the bounce from it should be huge.

Keep at it though, these have slot of promise.

3DZ, Nice clouds, I tried some clouds awhile ago. Your use of a hard brush is obviously necessary, though it seemed counter intuitive to me at the time. Clouds should be soft, but they need a hard brush to be painted. Nice work.

Yeah, hardbrushes are the key, and you’re totally right, it’s completly counter-intuitive. I remeber seeing a tutorial a while back. It taught me alot. Let me see if I can find it…

Edit: Found it. Have a look. It really makes more sense after reading it.
