some questions on traditional Painting

You might invest in Water-Soluble Oil paints. They dry faster than conventional oils and all you need is water as a medium…although you can use a special linseed oil, instead. The best part they clean with water and a little soap. No need for turpintine.

Buy nice brushes, don’t be afraid to spend money on brushes. Cheap brushes flop over when wet, and don’t spring back, and they generally just suck. Cheap paints are fine though, especially for a beginner.
I do have to agree though that drawing is very important if you want to paint. Very important! And fun!

My 2 cents

Shaidar = Thanks for the link. The people on that site are really good. And they had a article on what to get for beginners in acrylics so i got some good info there.

SpeccySteve = Thanks for the advice. I think Ill start with acrylics and move on to oils on my next art shopping spree:). Im not sure what your talking about with hardboard and stuff but Ill look it up.

We can pretty much tell, Ben, you are gonna do a fine job with your euthusiasm.
Thanks for the encouragement:applause:

danielh68 = Ya eaiser to clean always sounds good to me. I already have my comfortable work station picked out. Not that important to keep clean and its outdoors. I think this will be where I put my easel. And ill paint things in my yard I think it will be perfect.

DiMENSiON = So High quality brushes but lower quality paint.

Thanks for the advice guys. Im taking all peoples advice and getting a cheap material to paint with. Im going to learn the fundamentals of drawing whilst painting on a cheap material to work on my brush strokes and mixing colors. Are there any things to get on painting such as the loomis books only for painting? I might increase my budget more for drawing supplies has well .when I get paid on friday or next friday and get some supplies from an art store thats going out of business(what luck theyre having a major sale)

there is a company that has some really cheap acrylics callled 'BASICS" and also go to an artstore and buy canvas pads instead of full canvases. Here is a little cheat that i figured out in art class. the canvas pads can be run through your inkjet printer so you can start with a printed image to paint over.
