Hi Jaime. Thank you  I`m glad you like my work. Of course I want to share some of my techniques with you.

The Island was a personal painting. I found this nice picture somewhere around on the internet. I liked the mood and especially the waves in front of the coast.

Recently before I started this painting I saw King Kong. So I wanted to do my own little version of skull island. Just as an inspiration. I only used one picture for the sky, the rest is handpainted. Sadly it`s not finished yet. I hope I find some time to make it final.

There is another painting I want to show you. It`s how I love to work the most, the combination of 2D and 3D. I have to say, this matte was made somewhere around in august 2008 and only for television.

This was the original plate. It should be on the roof of a hospital.

Because the helicopter should fly away and be replaced with a digital double I had to make a cleanplate:

I modeled the environment with maya. I love this tool, especially for modeling.

I always try to match the 3D as close to my painting as possible. So I do all the lighting, rendering and texturing in 3D.
Then I go to photoshop and make the final integration and get rid of the CG-look, to make it more natural. I think this is not the final image, but I don`t find it right now :-(

This is the final shot with the cg helicopter and snow after the compositing.

I also did the modeling of the helicopter. This was really a fun job.

  I hope you like it.
  Best regards,
