Luceric,
What has changed or been enhanced with Face Robot now that it’s intagrated into 2010?
Any additional data import types? Improvements?

the last version of Face Robot as a seperate software was v1.9, and that’s the version that has been now added into Softimage 2010.
No major new features were added for 2010, other than just some simple, tweaks and enhancements. That’s not to say that we won’t be moving forward with new features for the Face Robot toolset, but the focus for this release was to implement Face Robot into Softimage 2010 fully and ensure stability to the software. For 2010, only the windows release has Face Robot, currently the Linux version is not supported.
Face Robot is a great piece of software and toolset, and it’s great to see Face Robot now fully inside Softimage.
Gotcha, I wasn’t sure if there were any major enhancements to FR. I was also looking for info on the motion capture data import types (BVH or TRC for example) that FR can import to see how the little guy could utilize that end of FR without breaking the bank
Just found this discussion, it may be an inexpensive way to get some capture data in FR ![]()

What is the official channel to make feature request to Autodesk. Cause right now the thing that is killing me is Stereoscopic. It would really make my life a lot easier if the stereoscopic toolset from Maya was made available. I know the camera is the easy part I have already replicated that but the ability to see to in the viewport would be a huge help to me. Having to render a set of frames and then take it into after effect before knowing if everything is correct is a huge pain. On a long shot where the depth changes I can spend a day or so going back and forth. Where is I could see it in the viewport. I could sort it out in a couple hours.
Also it would be nice to have the viewport exposure, Motion blur, and DOF. kinda like what was shown at Siggraph.
IMHO these would make a AWESOME Softimage 2010 Ext-1 next spring.
Actually, we added a tongue to Face Robot, and some of the operators are now using ICE, including the shape plug-in.
I have not seen many requests for stereo except the odd ‘would be cool’ post on xsibase.com (was it from you?). At this point, it isn’t on our radar.
If you're a studio doing a production however, you could get into contact with Autodesk Consulting and perhaps order come custom work for your special need.
i can't really recommend suggesting a feature directly with the form, I believe a healthy discussion on a forum with multiple users is more effective. We monitor these forums. :P
Just an idea maybe have the moderators on all of the different Softimage boards, sticky that at the top. Would prolly avoid a lot of flame wars.
It is mainly the viewport feed back that I would really like to have. I really do not mind the Stereoscopic shader vs. real stereo cameras. But it is the ability to see it in real time without have to render. That is the main thing. I need the Anaglyph viewport. right now I have to render it out then take it in to after effects. it is a huge pain and very time consuming. What should take a few minutes often takes hours.
It may be irrational but seeing you guys posting consistently has given me a much better feeling about AD’s acquisition of XSI.
Ah yes, I stand corrected. Though I was speaking in general terms really, for the package as a whole.
I have an addon for a realtime anaglyph stereo viewport. It is commercial though. I can customize it to hook into the parameters of your specific stereo rig. Please contact me if you are interested.

Just saw this tonight (9-10-09) in the subscription center, let’s hope
“Please note that Autodesk® Softimage® 2010 software and mental ray® 3.7+ for Autodesk Softimage 2010 will be available for download after September 10, 2009.”
I’d suggest to everyone, not able to download SI2010 from the Subscription Centre yet, to log a “Business Service Request” as per instructions on this page on the XSISupport Blog…
Is there an official release date for 2010 to be shipped (DVD available, being mailed out, etc.)? It’s understandable if Subscription deliveries are on a different timetable.
Also if SI sets up a RSS Feed it’s a good way to keep track of news related to SI.

I guess it pays to dig. Official ship day is Sept. 14th 2009.

Yeah, it always was the 14th. But at least as of yesterday they changes the verbiage on the site saying after the 10th. Either way, bring it on
