Softimage 2010

It seems however impossible to have 7.5 and 2010 open at the same time…

It is indeed either-or. Either you run 2010, or you run 7.5. You cannot run both at the same time.

This is true even on the same computer. So while you can run multiples instances of 2010 on one computer, or multiple instances of 7.5 on one computer, you cannot have instances of both.

Each of them pulls a different license, so as soon as you start 2010, that is a one-seat license checked out. When you start more instances of 2010, they run off of that same one-seat license, so you are not exceeding your seat count.

But, when you try start 7.5, that tries to pull a second, different license. And that exceeds the seat count (assuming you have just one seat).

Yes he is a great guy and his plugins are superb! From what I understood he was waiting for a service pack to fix up whatever it was that he needed for his plugins. I’m not positive on that though and I’m certainly not pitching a fit over it. I really appreciate the work that went into 2010, not to mention Face Robot. I just can’t use those plugins right now and they are super handy for quck, make it look great, motion graphics stuff.

Cheers!

My hats off to the softimage devs. This is the best update to a software I have seen in a long time. It runs like a dream.

I agree completely. Faster. More stable. Face robot is brilliant. Rendering is slick, faster and VERY stable. I had a model that I kept subdividing, then zoomed in and out and rotated around it (just to see). It was smooth smooth smooth. Great stuff, SI.

I’ve read in a few places about the educational version of xsi 2010 having a watermark in the renders?

Has anyone gotten the educational suite yet and can say if this is true or the educational version of xsi is the same as the educational 7.5?

No watermarks. Works just like the non-edu version, except that you can’t use it commercially. (that’s a surprise).

Thanks for the info. Already bought my copy and it is being shipped but good to know it doesn’t have it. I want to see what I’m rendering for my demo reels. Not watermarks.
