Soft portrait painting???

Hello everone

I’ve started my own company a while ago…
I make cards, photoeffects, invitations, etc and I sell photo on canvas.
This works well…
I’ve got a request to make a digital painting, and it had a lot of succes.
I did it in photoshop, I’ve just applied some filters and blendmodes.

However, I would like to learn more…
I love the portraits of Helen Yancy, but I’ve seen here on this site soms great pieces of art.

This is something I would like to learn, not to sell, just to make those artworks for my family and friends.

Who can help me getting started?

I have a Wacom tablet, Painter and photoshop cs2.

Any tips? books? links? DVD’s? someone who wants to teach me online?

it will help if you know how to paint beforehand, too.

start with the basics; forms, shapes, light, colour theory, etc. etc.
