Okay so maybe I just need a place to vent, but this is extremely annoying.

I get it that you have to move to a 64bit structure blablabla, but is it really that hard to keep an animated GIF module in After Effects ?

(read http://help.adobe.com/en_US/aftereffects/cs/using/WS3878526689cb91655866c1103a4f2dff7-79f1a.html for the way to export gifs from AE)

This is is really frustrating!

Okay, I vented, now lets take some time to export those images, open photoshop, save for web… because I love losing time.

over & out.

edit: i should specify that I’m on CS5, afaik other versions still have the output module

Here’s a page that gives details of the various channels for giving feedback to the After Effects team, including feature requests.

The GIF output from After Effects in CS4 and earlier had severe limitations, as described here, and it was better even then to use Photoshop. Almost no one used the GIF export from After Effects CS4 because there was a superior method for doing it in the suite. When we asked hundreds of people if they used GIF output from After Effects, they all said “no”.

If it’s important to you that the ability to create a GIF directly from After Effects be restored, please file a feature request. Keep in mind that time spent on this will take away from time spent on other things.
