Could someone please explain these sentences from Craig Mullins Macross tutorial?

  1. He said “Here is a way you can find the vanishing points of something- just paste a lower rez version in a big grayscale file and line up points until you have convergence. Then trace the left and right with a horizontal line and you have the eye level (if they match). They usually don’t match exactly and this is due to distortion or bad construction. As you can see I fudged the eye level up in the final for design reasons. I don’t like doing this, as it really hurts the image, but sometimes you have no choice”

I don’t get this…

What are vanishing points?
How to trace?
What he means by eye level?

Please guys help me get in 2d

Do you have a link to the tutorial? I’m sure it had some images that should make it easier to undesttand.

:argh:… ok that greyscale over the other part didn’t make much sense for me eiter…

Vanishing point
- This should help a little

Tracing-

1.Open the picture to trace*.
2.I’d suggest you to Duplicate it just so you wont save something that you wouldnt whant to.
3. Make a new layer
4. Draw the same picture

*Trace = Copying

just type “dictionary” in Google, you’ll find this site:
http://dictionary.reference.com/
Then type ‘tracing’, you get a page full of explanations. The ones you’re looking for are probably these:

A reproduction made by superimposing a transparent sheet and copying the lines of the original on it.

n 1: the act of drawing a plan or diagram or outline 2: drawing created by tracing [syn: trace]

Vanishing point is there too:
