Snowfall effect.

I am doing 3 min animation short film and i need snowfall in it …i try it in AfterEffect but its seems like flat effect… and i try in 3dsmax 2009 64x with PFsource(particle) but it is quite heavy for the seen and not possible for me to handle this and render it…

I am attaching some of my short film images Done in 3dsmax2009 x64 with mentalray…so please help me…

Create a particle event, clone and arrange in depth, use different levels of blur on it.
Could be done in either 3ds max or After Effects.
