smooth brush?

#1

hi everyone. I’m trying to model a 360 and now that i have a lot of lines crossing I’m getting wobbling surface, I’m sure that is not big deal and i could fix it moving some points here and there, i juts migrate to XSI and I’m trying to find a smooth option like a brush, the only smooth that i found is the one on deformers but is hard to control.

XSI gives you all the bits you need, but not a straight prepacked gizmo for it, love it or hate it this is mostly the philosophy of the package (I’m in the love it field).
Get>property>weightmap on the object.
With the weightmap selected deform>smooth.
That connects the intensity of the smooth operator to the weightmap. Now with the weightmap brush (and all related benefits), shortcut W (ctrlW for options), you can paint how much smooth you want on the mesh and where.

If you find yourself doing this often it’s trivial to make it into a single button with minimal copy-paste-edit of the script log.

This works for mostly any deformer.

thanks, for your response, i will try anytime soon and see how it works

better way to get rid of such problems is to make a nurbs proxy surface underneath and do a shrinkwrap. At least thats how i do hard body models.
