I think it’s a great idea to do this digitally as well - I’ve really found there to be a dialogue between my traditional and digital work, I’ll be curious to see what develops here.
Sketchbook Thread of Woody
Hi All
Im doing still life in class at the moment learning the basics oil of painting. So I thought I would do a quick digital figure sketch in the mean time.
Just trying to keep it simple and get the Mass shapes correct.

Hi…Woody…
Great way to explore even further what you have learned in your class…![]()
I’m doing the same thing with works from my class also…only so much you can do with the time limits and limitations of a class…
GREAT JOB so far on all of those bust that you have posted…:applause:
LOOKING FORWARD TO SEEING MORE…![]()

Woody,
Nice to see this! I think the main thing to suggest is now focusing on soft and hard edges. You’ve got everything blocked in nicely, now it remains to detail things. Good work!
Hi All thanks for the comments will try and bear them in mind…
Here are a couple more + my still life from class
Woody

wow that stillife is very nice! I like the color you used on the shadow. Its not black and thats good. only crit is that the light on the lemon seems to come from an other direction that on the bottle, judged by the shadows. its a minor crit, but I saw it when I flipped the image.
I love the colors! I would like to see the same variety and saturation in your portraits.
Hi Cyanid
Thanks for the comments with regards to the shadow the spot light was very close to the still life for the cast shadows thats why they are going in different directions.
Definitly looking forward to painting full portrates in class… ![]()
