Okay… WOW… so for something of this detail, how long did that take? 3D is overwhelming!

#122

Congrats on the galleries!! Well deserved. Some awesome modeling and textures. All the anatomy looks spot on too me. He looks better with the clothes I think. Gives him more character.

#123

aggie93, Thank you. It took about a month from start to finish

Wow, that Punk character looks so …professional O: amazing!
Did you do the entire model on Zbrush? or did you start on Maya or 3dMax and did the normal maps on Zbrush?
Sorry if my questions are very stupid hehe, I’m a newb at 3d

#125

Nice work Vikram! Congrats for the success you had with your character. I ve seen that in many websites. Hope to see more from your side.

#126

Hi Talaria, thanks for the reply. I make a base mesh in 3dsmax, and take it to zbrush for detailing. It doesn’t matter which software you start with. I do hardsurface modelling in max.

Hello guys. I received a mail yesterday from a Polish guy, directing me to this link (You probably might need to translate the link from Polish to English) http://graffika.pl/viewtopic.php?f=128&t=7430, and there was a guy named Raphael who ripped my "punk "character and displayed it in that website as his own. I was shocked on how cheap one can get and post my work as his own. I visited his website, and it states that he has worked in many top of the line studios for over 7 years in an executive position. So, I was confused how an experienced artist would plaigiarise artwork. Today, I got the link to another site, and I learned that this is not his first attempt in stealing work, he has done this many times before http://ja.rafi.pl/2010/04/28/rafal-rula-znowu-kradnie/comment-page-1/#comment-53789. I am not sure how to handle this whole issue. Sometimes it makes me laugh at how low people can get , sometimes it just shocks me.

Add me to the list of people in awe at the details of your work. Fantastic work!

I’m sorry to hear about your work being stolen. Sometimes people suck. Not sure what you can do beyond being vocal about it and letting admins of any sites it’s posted on know etc. If enough people know it’s not his work, hopefully he’ll not be able to get away with claiming it is his. Maybe you could try have a look around and see how other artists have dealt with this sort of situation? Good luck!

Yes it’s true. Rafał Rula (rafaldesign.com in past rula.pl) is well known polish plagiarist. I wrote about him in December, 2008 and after 16 months he came out with another stolen works.

Vikram, this really sucks, sorry to hear that. It pisses me off seeing this happen…Hopefully you’ll find a way how to solve this.

#132

On my way over to the website I see that the user has been banned for Plagiarism. So in some sense the system kind of works. Unfortunately that doesn’t mean anything about the guy’s personal website. I’m not sure how you an go about taking down the image. Perhaps some claim of copyright? Sorry to hear your work was stolen, however I think that this won’t help this person at all since they won’t have the actual model to show a potential employer. I mean what good are those 2d images without a turntable render or showreel? The difference here is you have the skills to create something like this, and the person plagiarizing you obviously does not. That’s something they can’t steal from you.

Keep up the great work!

#133

Thank you guys, for the concern. I am just ignoring the whole issue for the time being.

#134

That guy won’t be doing this for too long.
His reputation will work against him sooner or later.

So you’re right to just ignore him.
The other option is to sue him, but that is often not a realistic option for artists.
If you can afford it, I’d say sue his ass off.
It might be more rewarding though to just keep working and creating the great stuff you have been creating :buttrock:

#135

Well, the reality is that he’s not getting anywhere by doing this and pretty soon no one will want to work with him. Even if he gets work using other peoples artwork, he just can’t do it up to that level, that wouldn’t make the client happy, so that’s a job lost. And now it’s not so much the portfolio but recommendations by the happy clients that get you the job. The guy’s lost, it’s just a matter of time before no one wants to work with him.

#136

Wow, how does that guy expect to get away with stealing other people’s work? Vikram, that says you are doing a great job, so don’t let it disrupt you and keep it up!

#137

Thanks for the encouraging words guys. I have been off the forums for sometime now. Was out of station. Meanwhile my making of is on 3d total now. This character also won the “best game model” award at the CGTexpo, held in mumbai last month. I am starting work on a new character. Will post WIP’s here. Thanks

#138

Hello guys, here is my latest render…A UFC wrestler. It was inspired by Randy couture. Rendered in VRAY, detailed in zbrush. Will post zbrush snapshots soon.

#139

Hey vikram nice work :)and nice render, need more work on his face and dont use black colour on his trouser ur sculpting details r not seen may be u can go with red colour.Keep Rocking:buttrock:

#140

Looking gr8 Vikram…I agree with Karthik here. Totallly black here is killing ur details here. Also, the ankles i feel are too narrow for a muscular person like this.
But nice work, overall! keep them coming.
