Taking becca’s advice I tried to really brighten the light areas and the shadows and play with the greens. I think the green looks better with a more pale skin town instead of the the more tan look she had. What do you guys think?

Heya Vidar,
I think the colors are really starting to resonate now!
A few things I might point out are the folds in the cloth, which look a little too uniform; also, I think her right hip might swing out just a bit more for a more curvy look. I think one thing that will be important will be to sketch on a layer the approximate position of her left shoulder ~ when drawing figures, it’s important to draw the full figure as though the superficial things like hair and clothing are not there first ~ otherwise things look disjointed. Once you locate her shoulder, I think this might affect where her arm will be positioned.
Nice work so far! Looking forward to more updates.
Cheers,

Well, it has been a while. Whenver I think I’m starting to get some freetime to do some painting, work has away of sneaking up and stealing it away from me
Here is my latest inspiration/effort. A new friend I have made of the last year. She is a ballet dancer so in many respects is all I could hope for in a model. A bit shy so I’m sorry I promised not to post a photo. She let me snap one so I could work while she isn’t around. This is from her first sitting today. About one hour. Also this is my first time painting in photoshop from life. Additionally for crit would be the composition. I am trying to put together a solid piece from all aspects such as anatomy and so on but I want a strong composition and pose as well.
Thanks guys.

Heya,
Great to see you back around.
I definitely think that you’ll want some more head room above her head and also some space below her right knee and beside her right arm / hand.
Looking forward to your development of this piece.
ok, so here is a quick update. maybe it doesn’t look like too much but probably another hour or so trying to correct some anatomical errors from my initial sketch and working in some of the core shadowing and some of the other values. Oh…and I bit the bullet and starting blockng in her hand instead of waiting till the very end as per usual

Hey, I’m like an elephant, I don’t forget.
Looks great so far, I’d say the only thing at this point in the roughing in stage that I might indicate is that the top of her head looks a little flat. Like the blocking in of the hand, that looks really good. Her left arm also seems really short, I think the elbow should extend further into the air. Keep going!
ok it’s been a long little while since I’ve had a chance to work on this. So just trying to get back to it. My model wasn’t available for a sitting so all of these updates are from photograph. Thanks to becca for her previous comments and suggestions.
